Winchester Badminton Club in 2026

Welcome to the official Winchester Badminton Club website. We are a social and competitive club based at the Westgate Badminton Centre, home of Hampshire Badminton. We have have a team participating in the Southampton and District Badminton Association (SDBA) League.

Club Night: Mondays 19:30 - 21:30

There is free parking available as well as changing facilities at the halls.

Club Skill Level - October 2025 Update​​

As of October 2025, Winchester Badminton Club is amending requirements to attend a session. This is due to the large growth in membership we have had across all of 2025, and that we are beginning to approach the capacity for the courts we have. See below some changes:

• We are no longer accepting walk-ins

• Anyone who wishes to wishes to attend must first get in touch with us via our Contact Form

• Searching specifically for experienced players

Experienced Players​

We are still looking for experienced players to join the club. Anyone who is interested in playing League matches should get in touch with us.

​

For players who are already at an intermediate level or above, there are regular opportunities to play with similarly skilled players. Since there is no rigid game selection system, we do our best to facilitate balanced games so that there is a healthy mix across the evening. This helps to bring up the skill level of the club as well as challenge those who are already match-ready.​

Club Recommended Requirements​

Below are some general expectations for anyone looking to become a member of the Winchester Badminton Club in the 2025-2026 season:

• Must have strong understanding of the rules in badminton

• Good court etiquette, able to enjoy games and have fun while also respecting team mates, opponents and the game

• Must have previous experience playing at club-level or prior coaching experience at junior level or above

• Competent with positioning in both mixed and level doubles

For those that are still interested in playing, but are at a beginner level. We highly recommend you take a look at the other sessions offered at Westgate Badminton Centre through the week.​​

Once you arrive at Westgate School, you will find the car park for the badminton hall towards the end of the road (after the 2nd road-hump) and the next left. If you find that there is not sufficient parking space here, you are welcome to use the remaining parking spaces available leading towards the facility.
